A Singaporean man was injured after being struck by a car while attempting to cross a busy road in Johor Bahru, in an incident that has since circulated widely on social media.
The accident took place along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak on Friday (3 April) at around 3:40pm.

Short dashcam footage shared online shows the man, who appeared to be carrying a briefcase, trying to make his way across the multi-lane road despite a pedestrian bridge being located just a short distance away.
Dashcam Clip Captures Moment of Impact
In the video, the pedestrian is first seen stepping into the road and narrowly avoiding one oncoming vehicle.
He then appears to change direction and move back into traffic.
A black Perodua Myvi, later identified by police as being driven by a Malaysian Grab driver, is seen approaching in the right lane.
The driver appears to brake and swerve, but is unable to stop in time.

The man is then hit and pushed a short distance forward before the vehicle comes to a halt.
The clip, which lasts around 30 seconds, has since sparked discussion online, with some social media users questioning whether the man had deliberately stepped into the path of the vehicle.
One widely circulated report described the man as appearing to “deliberately step into the road and lunge toward an oncoming vehicle.”
However, his motive remains unclear.
Police: Driver Unable to Avoid Pedestrian
Johor Bahru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said preliminary investigations found that the Singaporean had suddenly crossed the road.
“The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian,” he said in a statement.

Police said the injured man is a Singaporean who works as a travel agent.
He sustained injuries to his head, hands and legs, and is currently receiving treatment at the National University Hospital in Singapore.
Public Reminded to Use Designated Crossings
Raub also urged members of the public to comply with road safety rules, especially when crossing busy roads.
“Pedestrians are advised to use designated crossing points and avoid crossing recklessly, as it endangers not only themselves but also other road users,” he said.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
