Comedy With Culture, Chaos And Confidence

Stand-up comedy thrives on honesty — and few comedians deliver it as sharply as Sharul Channa.

The Singapore-born comic is returning to the stage with her latest comedy special, Saree, These Are Just Jokes!, a show that blends cultural commentary, personal storytelling, and the everyday contradictions of modern life.

After years of sold-out performances across Asia and India, Sharul’s newest hour promises fresh material, bigger laughs, and her trademark fearless observations — all delivered with mischievous charm.

Fifteen Years of Saying the Quiet Parts Out Loud

The new special also marks a milestone: 15 years in stand-up comedy.

From navigating social expectations and relationships to confronting self-imposed pressure and reinvention, Sharul turns familiar struggles into punchlines audiences instantly recognise. Her humour remains sharp without feeling heavy, clever without trying too hard, and deeply relatable without losing its edge.

One moment draws laughter; the next sparks knowing nods from the crowd.

The Singapore premiere comes ahead of what will be her largest India tour yet, with planned stops across cities including Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad — making the local shows an early look at a production set for an international run.

More Than Just A Comedy Show

Beyond the jokes, the performance reflects Sharul’s evolving creative identity.

Born in India and raised in Singapore, the comedian trained at LASALLE College of the Arts before carving out her voice in a comedy scene often dominated by male performers.

Her career spans character-driven productions, international tours, and collaborations supporting social causes, including work with women’s rights organisation AWARE.

For this tour, Sharul also partners with Indian saree label Suta, turning costume into cultural storytelling — merging fashion, heritage and humour on stage.
