It was early morning when workers at a small ABC store in a quiet American town opened the shop for another busy Black Friday. They expected long lines, loud customers, and fast sales. What they did not expect was finding the front of the store slightly damaged and several shelves in a mess.

At first, staff thought someone had tried to break in during the night. The scene looked unusual enough that they quickly called local police for help.
Officer Arrives to a Confusing Scene
When the responding officer stepped inside, he immediately noticed bottles knocked over, snack bags torn open, and small footprints on the floor.

It looked less like a robbery and more like someone tiny but very energetic had run around the store. The officer followed the trail to the back of the shop, where the bathroom door was half open.
A Sleeping “Burglar” Found in the Bathroom
Inside the bathroom, the officer discovered the surprising suspect: a raccoon lying on its back, fast asleep.

The animal appeared completely unaware of the chaos it had created. Workers said the raccoon must have slipped into the building after closing time and explored the shelves like an excited shopper. The raccoon looked tired, and the officer gently picked it up.
Taken for “Questioning” at Animal Shelter
After confirming that the raccoon was not injured, the officer brought it to the local animal protection shelter. Staff joked that the animal was being taken in for “questioning,” but everyone understood it was only for safety.
The shelter later stated that the raccoon woke up slowly, calm and relaxed, clearly having enjoyed its little late-night adventure inside the store.
No Charges for the Furry Intruder
Later that day, the shelter confirmed that the raccoon was healthy and could return to the wild. Police officers released it safely in a nearby wooded area, far from the busy store. Employees cleaned the shop and continued their Black Friday duties, shaking their heads and laughing about the unusual visitor.

By the afternoon, the story had already spread across the small town. Locals found it funny and charming—something lighthearted during a very busy shopping week.
A Story the Town Will Never Forget
For the ABC store workers, it was a Black Friday they would remember for years, thanks to one sleepy raccoon who simply chose the wrong place to take a nap.
