Prozac Monkey: Monkey in Singapore’s Botanic Gardens grabs student’s anti-depressants, eats two, then throws it back

Chloe, a student, had just received anti-depressants from their psychiatrist and decided to walk over to the Botanical Gardens nearby to unwind.

Not long after, she experienced ‘the most absurd thing’.

A Monkey who stole Prozac

A monkey, who Chloe thought was a friend they could chill with, decided to grab her Prozac from her bag. The Monkey could have gone for the perfectly edible ice-cream, but for reasons best known to itself, elected for the anti-depressants instead.

Reflecting on this strange choice, Chloe shared that the Monkey’s actions “seemed rather deliberate actually.”

and i thought i had a new friend who wanted to chill w me 😟 pic.twitter.com/F9TeVXvVr7

After climbing the tree, the monkey consumed 2 tablets and threw the remainder back to the ground.

As the monkey was on the tree, some tourists taunted it and urged it to return the anti-depressants.

Chloe informed a staff member who who was manning the visitor enquiry booth of the incident.

They haven’t contacted me since, just looked at me in shock and asked me to leave my contact details just in case they need further clarification.

Outpour of concern for the monkey

Chloe’s tweets, which have been liked by 101,000 users and seen more than 3.6 million times, sparked an outpouring of concern for the Monkey.

I literally zoomed in on the nipples to confirm that they are in fact pink and blue…..

And, as usual, the Twitter community responded with some fine memes. We have added some that caught our eye to this article.

Times are indeed tough, not just for us but for our friends in the animal kingdom as well.
