A Historic Night for Thai Pageantry
On Saturday, August 23, 2025, Thailand crowned its newest beauty queen as Praveenar “Veena” Singh from Saraburi won the title of Miss Universe Thailand 2025.

The competition took place at MGI Hall, Bravo BKK, where 77 contestants from across the country vied for the crown.
Breaking Tradition and Making History
Veena’s win was more than just another pageant victory. It marked a milestone.
At 29 years old, she became the first Miss Universe Thailand winner to have previously been married and divorced, a shift made possible after pageant rules were revised in recent years to allow divorced women and mothers to compete, Malay Mail reported.
The crown was placed on her head by Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova, adding to the significance of the evening.

From Runner-Up to Queen
Veena’s road to the crown has been long and determined. She first entered Miss Universe Thailand in 2018, finishing as second runner-up, and again in 2020, when she was named first runner-up, according to Bangkok Post.
In 2023, she competed once more but only placed as second runner-up before losing her appointed provincial title.
This year, representing Saraburi Province, Veena finally broke through and claimed the top spot after years of near misses.

The Competition Night
The final event opened with a performance before the top 20 contestants were announced.
The remaining competitors faced the swimsuit and evening gown rounds, which narrowed the field to 10, before five finalists advanced to the crucial question-and-answer portion.

When the results were announced, Veena stood victorious. The first runner-up title went to Praewwanich Ruangthong from Bangkok, while Narumon Pimphakdee from Phuket was named second runner-up.
Life Beyond the Pageant Stage
Veena was born on April 16, 1996, in Chiang Mai and later raised in Yala. She graduated with a degree in Russian from Thammasat University.
She tied the knot with Thai-Indian entrepreneur Hanchareon Singthakwal in 2022, though their marriage ended in divorce two years later, The Nation reported.

Her personal story mirrors the increasing diversity shaping Thailand’s beauty pageant scene.
Being a naturalised Thai of Indian background sets her apart from many previous winners, most of whom were Thai-born or of Thai-Western heritage.
Looking Ahead to Miss Universe
With her national crown secured, Veena will now represent Thailand at the 74th Miss Universe competition, scheduled to be held in Thailand this November.
