#1: Grab driver refused to pick passenger on the 3rd floor of carpark
A Grab driver has been temporarily suspended after requesting more costs from a passenger on crutches who wanted to be picked up on the third floor of a parking garage.
The client recounted the experience in a TikTok video, which has already received over 200,000 views.
The lady who goes under the nickname “nopenotsyaf” claimed in the video broadcast on January 5 that she made the request due to the wet weather.
“I try not to walk down to the ground level because I could slip and fall and injure myself much more,” she explained.
She also stated that when ordering a private hire car, she would inform the driver that she was wounded.
On this particular occasion, she texted the driver, saying, “I am on crutches, please come to level 3 car park since I cannot get down.”
However, the driver stated that driving up to level three would incur an additional charge of $3.
“I’ve never had someone charge me for level 3 before, why is this happening so suddenly?” she responded.
#2: Tada passenger’s claim that driver asked to ‘go up’ to her house.
TADA, a ride-hailing app, has launched a “thorough investigation” after a female customer claimed a driver wanted to “go up” to her residence.
In response to questions, the firm said it is also evaluating the driver’s previous travels and has contacted any riders who may have been harmed by similar behavior.
“TADA does not tolerate any sort of harassment and has zero tolerance for any contact that jeopardizes the security and well-being of our riders and drivers,” the organization stated.
TADA’s response comes after a passenger stated on Facebook on Sunday that her driver had requested her to remove her mask during the journey so he could see her face, and if he could “walk up” to her house.
“He said he simply wants to see my face without my mask on, he wants to know how I look,” the lady wrote.
The driver allegedly quizzed the woman about the architecture of her home, if it was soundproof, and whether her unit was close to her neighbour’s.
“He asked if he could go up (to) my house, and I straight out told him, NO,” the lady stated.
“We are dedicated to seeing this matter through in a fair way and will continue to keep the impacted parties fully informed on the outcomes of our investigation, as well as any ensuing steps we will take,” the organisation stated.
#3: Ryde driver suspended for reportedly instructing a woman in the car not to listen to prayers.
A Ryde driver has been suspended after reportedly telling a Muslim woman that she couldn’t listen to prayers in his car.
“We firmly do not condone any improper behavior, especially one that is harmful to one’s ethnicity, religion, or culture, and have zero tolerance for racist slurs and other types of harassment,” Ryde responds.
When she got inside the car, she put on her headphones, according to the woman. The driver then “made some gestures” at her and claimed she “cannot listen to prayer”.
The driver apparently stated that if she listened to prayers, the “energy” in the car would change, and he did not like it.
In an Instagram video of the event, a lady can be heard requesting the driver to just alight her in front as she was uncomfortable.
“The commission, you have to pay you know,” the driver said. Yes, she answered, adding that she will call Ryde.
