Speeding More Than Twice the Limit
On a public holiday in February, an off-duty female officer from the Nagasaki Prefectural Police was recorded driving her personal car at 102 kilometers per hour on a national highway in Nagasaki City, more than double the 50-kilometer-per-hour speed limit.
Evaded Police Pursuit
A patrol car on duty noticed the speeding vehicle and attempted to pull it over. However, the driver did not stop and continued, eventually evading the police.

Officers later traced the license plate number, which led them to a surprising discovery. The car belonged to another officer from the same police department.
Multiple Traffic Violations Recorded
Further investigation, including surveillance footage, revealed that the off-duty officer had committed 13 violations of the Road Traffic Act that day.

These included running red lights, Sora News 24 reported.
Officer’s Explanation
When questioned, the officer, who was in her 20s, said, “I didn’t notice the patrol car chasing me. I just wanted to get home and get some sleep,” according to Nagasaki Broadcasting
Disciplinary Action and Resignation
On May 1, the Nagasaki Prefectural Police imposed a disciplinary measure, cutting her pay by 10 percent for six months. Additionally, her case was referred to the prosecutor’s office on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act.
She admitted to the charges and submitted her resignation the same day.
