A Day In The Life Of A Cat Sitter
A video posted by Singapore-based cat sitter @petitepurrssg on 12 January is giving viewers a closer look at what professional pet sitting actually involves — beyond cute cat content online.
The clip begins with a simple shot of a motorbike parked along a residential road. Text on screen reads: “Islandwide Cat Sitting starts at $20/visit.”

The sitter is then seen arriving at a client’s home, unlocking the door before greeting one of the resident cats. After washing her hands, she begins her routine: cleaning food bowls, preparing meals, refreshing water dishes, and checking on the other cats in the home.

The visit continues with litter scooping and light housekeeping, including wiping surfaces and vacuuming parts of the kitchen area. Before leaving, she photographs the cats to update the owner — a standard practice meant to reassure pet owners while they are away.

One cat flops onto the floor as she prepares to leave, prompting a short moment of play and affection before she packs up, locks the door, and records proof that the home is secured. The video ends with her riding off.
Questions From Curious Viewers
Many commenters were unfamiliar with home-based pet sitting and asked whether the service took place in owners’ homes.
Responding to one query, the sitter explained:

She noted that boarding hotels can be stressful for cats, which are highly territorial animals, and that home visits allow them to remain in familiar surroundings while maintaining their daily routines.
Another viewer asked how she handles timid cats.
The sitter clarified:

Supportive comments also popped up on their page:

Calm Response to a Critical Comment
The video also drew questions from one commenter who asked, ‘You charge people to use their cats for social media marketing?’
Rather than escalating the exchange, the sitter issued a gentle, kind clarification.

Her response was firm yet respectful, addressing concerns without confrontation.
What Petite Purrs Offers
Operating under Petite Purrs, the service provides islandwide cat-sitting visits across Singapore, starting from $20 per visit, with additional charges applying for multiple cats and travel distance.
Each visit typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes and includes:
- Food and water refills using clean dishes
- Litter maintenance and light cleanup
- Playtime and social interaction
- Daily photo updates for owners
Optional add-ons are also available, including medication feeding, grooming services such as brushing or nail clipping, and wet baths for smaller cats.

Owners are required to prepare sufficient food, litter supplies and cleaning tools before visits begin, while key handover or digital access must be arranged ahead of the first appointment.
Bookings require a 50% non-refundable deposit, with final payment due on the last service day.
Built Around Reducing “Travel Guilt”
The sitter, who introduced herself on the page as Nisa, shared that the business began from a familiar concern among pet owners — worrying about pets while travelling.
Having previously worked in a cat hotel, she said she witnessed how some cats struggled when removed from their home environment, occasionally refusing food or hiding due to stress.

Her service operates through home visits which enable her to maintain the cat’s regular schedule while providing owners with reassurance on their holiday and work trips. Nisa operates the entire service as she handles both client communication and visits which she believes creates dependable relationships with returning customers.
Care From A Fellow Cat Owner
A cat owner herself, Nisa cares for three cats, an experience she says shapes how she approaches every booking. Understanding individual routines and small behavioural quirks, she aims to treat each client’s pet with the same level of attention given to her own.

As home-based pet services continue gaining traction in Singapore, the video offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the work involved — showing that professional pet sitting often includes as much cleaning, coordination and responsibility as it does cuddling cats.
