Arrests Made After Video Spreads
Police in George Town, Malaysia, have detained a couple linked to a viral cemetery incident, with both suspects now remanded for three days as investigations intensify.
Penang police chief Azizee Ismail said the pair — a local woman and man aged between their 30s and 50s — were picked up on the night of 23 March following swift police action.

Initial checks found that the two are not married. Authorities have since confirmed that both individuals admitted involvement during questioning.
They are being investigated under Section 294 of the Penal Code for public indecency, Section 509 for insulting modesty, as well as provisions under the Communications and Multimedia Act.
Remanded for Three Days
The suspects were brought to court on March 24, where police obtained a remand order. The remand order is until March 26 to assist in investigations.
According to police, an investigation paper had already been opened after a report was lodged. The case has now entered the judicial process.

Checks with cemetery management under the Penang United Hokkien Cemeteries Association also confirmed that the incident took place at one of its burial grounds.
Viral Clip Triggers Outrage
The arrests come after a 38-second video began circulating widely on social media, drawing strong reactions from viewers. The footage shows a man standing naked with his back to the camera, while a partially clothed woman is seen seated on a tombstone.

The setting, later confirmed to be within a cemetery compound, quickly sparked criticism online over the perceived disrespect toward the deceased.
Filmed Confrontation at Scene
In the clip, a woman recording the incident confronts the pair, claiming it was not their first time at the location.
“I’ve caught the two of you here again… you’ve been naked several times in this cemetery,” she is heard saying.

She goes on to accuse them of “disrespecting the deceased” and warns that she will contact the police. As the confrontation continues, the man is seen calmly putting on his trousers before apologising.
The woman filming does not accept the apology, continuing to reprimand both individuals. She stresses that cemeteries are meant for the public to pay respects, not for inappropriate behaviour.
The clip ends with her warning that the footage would be handed over to authorities — a move that ultimately preceded police action.
Public Reactions Follow
The video has since spread across multiple platforms, with many viewers echoing the filmer’s sentiments and condemning the act as deeply inappropriate given the location.
Others expressed shock at the repeated nature of the alleged behaviour, as suggested in the confrontation. Authorities have not disclosed further details as investigations remain ongoing.
