A paramotor accident in Melaka surprised many people after a flying operator suddenly fell into a paddy field. The incident happened on 22 December in Kampung Ku Sayang, Bukit Baru, during preparations for a public sports event.

Although the fall looked serious, the operator escaped with only minor injuries, and no members of the public were hurt.
Unexpected crash during early flight
The accident took place at around 8.40am, when a paramotor was flying over a padi field near Tun Fatimah Stadium. The paramotor hit an electric power cable belonging to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). After hitting the cable, the paramotor lost control and fell from a height of about 30 metres into the field.

In the video, several people nearby witnessed the moment the paramotor suddenly dropped from the sky. The fall happened quickly and without warning, causing concern among those attending the event.
Cause linked to technical issue
Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the accident was believed to be caused by a technical problem. The paramotor operator was taking part in activities connected to the Duyong International Cultural Run 2025, which included extreme sports displays.

The paramotor was one of four units brought by a club from Selangor. The group had arrived earlier with full equipment to support the programme. While operating the vehicle, one paramotor experienced issues that led to the sudden fall.
Minor injuries, no public harm
Despite falling from a great height, the operator suffered only minor injuries to the face. He was later given medical attention. The paramotor itself was also only slightly damaged.
Police confirmed that no members of the public were injured. The area around the stadium remained safe, and the incident did not interrupt the main programme.
Power cable checked after impact
After the crash, a team from TNB arrived at the scene to inspect the electric cable. Officials reported that the cable was not damaged and remained safe for use. This helped ease concerns about possible electrical danger in the area.
The accident scene was calm shortly after the fall, with authorities quickly taking control.
Video spreads online
A short video, lasting just over ten seconds, was recorded by people attending the cultural run. The clip showed the paramotor falling into the paddy field and quickly spread online later that day. While the footage caused alarm at first, official statements later confirmed that the situation was under control.

The incident drew attention due to its timing and location, but authorities emphasized that safety measures were followed and no further risk was present.
