Fined 10,000 Baht (S$393) After Admitting to Abuse
A 35-year-old man in Thailand has been fined 10,000 baht (approx. S$393) for animal abuse after tying his dog to his motorcycle and dragging it along a public road in Nakhon Ratchasima.

The incident took place on Tuesday, 8 April 2025.
According to Bangkok Post, the Sikhiu Provincial Court initially fined the man, Pannawit, 20,000 baht (approx. S$787), but the amount was reduced after he confessed.
He Tied the Dog to His Bike and Dragged It
Pannawit had tied his dog with a rope to the back of his motorcycle before riding off, dragging the animal for over 600 meters.

According to The Thaiger, at first, the dog named ‘Salmon’, could keep up, but as Pannawit accelerated, the dog’s body started dragging along the road, causing injuries to its legs and body.

Woman Witnessed the Act and Stepped In
A 44-year-old woman named Charuwan Phuangkham, also known as “Ice” saw what happened and immediately stepped in. She stopped Pannawit, rescued the dog, and sought medical treatment for the dog.

Ice later shared the incident on Facebook, drawing public attention to the abuse.
Man Claimed He Acted Out of Anger
Following the incident, the Watchdog Thailand Foundation, an animal welfare group, filed a police report at Pak Chong Police Station.
Pannawit told authorities that he had been enraged after a fight with his partner and dragged the dog to seek attention. He admitted to tying the dog with a rope and riding off in a moment of anger.

No Jail Time, but the Court Imposes a Fine
Pannawit was summoned for questioning and later transferred to Sikhiu Provincial Court, where he pleaded guilty.
The court issued a fine but he did not receive a prison sentence. Pannawit then apologized for his actions.

He Requested to See His Dog One Last Time
Pannawit requested to see the dog to say goodbye for one last time. The request was granted. He also told police that he had raised the dog since it was young. The dog is now 4 months old.

According to Channel 3 and Facebook, the dog urinated when reunited with Pannawit, assumably out of fear. The dog was not returned to him.
Dog Renamed, Now Recovering
Although “Ice” initially cared for the dog after the rescue, it was adopted by a new owner, Siriphong Sae-Kang.

The dog, previously named ‘Salmon’, has been renamed ‘Talai.’
In recent updates, the new owner shared that the dog had received medical attention at a local veterinary clinic and is doing better.
