“Bodohhh” – Ryan Tan, allegedly broke, scolds person who pointed out that he lives in a penthouse

Ryan Tan claims to be “officially broke”

In the past couple of days, MustShareNews and AsiaOne ran headlines which claimed that Ryan Tan, the co-founder of NightOwlCinematics, was “completely broke”. Although it is unclear if he ever said that he was “completely broke”, he did make two Instagram stories about how he is “officially broke” and “barely holding on”.

Ryan’s claims, and (we’d wager) the cute dog in the story, appeared to have tugged at the heartstrings of some. At least one stranger donated SGD 1,000 to Ryan in the hopes that his donation would help the YouTuber “fight back from this fall”.

However, not everyone had much sympathy for Ryan’s supposed predicament.

Netizens Unimpressed by Ryan’s Claim

In the comments section of the MustShareNews article, many users were unimpressed by Ryan’s plea.

Many observed that there are others in society who are worse off.

Ryan lives in a Penthouse

Throughout the comments section, many netizens kept making reference to Ryan’s penthouse.

Ryan’s penthouse was featured on Straits Times, Asia One, and 99.co, last year.

The Straits Times article noted that the 1,410 sq ft cost SGD 200,000 to renovate. AsiaOne wrote that the house looked like an “updated luxurious Japanese ryokan or American log cabin with all the trappings of modern technology”.

99.co called it the most “most stylo-milo bachelor pad ever”.

Point is, it doesn’t exactly look like the humble adobe of one who is, for all intents and purposes, broke.

Ryan says netizen is a “Bodohhh”

Xin Yi Ong drew the attention of readers to an Instagram story where Ryan was responding to someone who pointed out that Ryan lived in a penthouse.

Ryan responded by calling the person a “bodohhhh” and stated that “selling the house is worst at this climate”, although we aren’t too sure what exactly he meant.

Ryan asks why “people like this exist”

In a separate Instagram story, where one user suggested that Ryan should downgrade and questioned Ryan’s understanding of the words poor and broke, Ryan asked “Why do people like this exist?”

You can see Ryan’s penthouse in all its glory in the video below:
