“Do you want to hook up secretly?” – NTU Student receives indecent proposal via Telehitch

“omg WHATTT. he asked me if I was attached, I said yes then he asked if I wanna secretly hook up ? agsjsk I didn’t even know how to react I just —” – Nicolette on the indecent telehitch proposal

What is Telehitch?

Telehitch or SG Hitch is a telegram group that both drivers and commuters use to arrange hitch rides. As one driver put it, “personally i just need that extra cash to cover my petrol cost and nothing else… drop near my place and go home to eat & sleep.”

For many, with soaring Grab prices, Telehitch provides a more affordable alternative.

An Indecent Proposal

Nicolette, an NTU student who has more than 6,000 followers on TikTok, shared an unpleasant experience she had on Telehitch in a TikTok video. The video, which was published on 13 May 2022, has chalked up more than 63,000 views in just over 15 hours.

Against ABBA’s vocals in Angeleyes, she shared that she recently booked a Telehitch ride and, surprisingly, the driver offered to send her home for free.

The driver claimed that he knew Nicolette via his Instagram explore page. He then asked if she was attached, to which she replied in the affirmative.

After she informed him that she was attached, he asked Nicolette if she wanted to “hook up secretly”. Nicolette, who didn’t know how to react, said “sorry I’ll pass HAHA”.

The driver then went on to say that he got hard off Nicolette pictures. Nicolette was taken aback and didn’t even reply to him further.

In the caption to her video, Nicolette said that laughing was her coping mechanism.

Reactions

Many offered support to Nicolette and checked in on her after she shared her experience.

Nicolette also stated that most of her experiences on SG Hitch were quite safe.

Some comments from females suggest that this incident experienced by Nicolette was not an isolated one.
