In Gorontalo’s Bone Bolango Regency, Indonesia, a man named Peo Samania had to make a heartbreaking journey after the death of his brother, Nandar Samania.
With no direct access roads or proper healthcare facilities in their village, Peo transported his brother’s corpse from Toto Hospital back to their home in Tilonggibila Village using a modified motorbike, Kompas.com reported.

The unusual but necessary journey quickly spread on social media after videos showed the corpse being taken through rough forest trails.
Lack of Facilities Left Family With Few Options
Pinogu District, where Tilonggibila is located, lies inside the Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park. It is considered an enclave area with very limited public facilities, including healthcare.
Villagers who need medical treatment must be referred to hospitals outside the district, requiring them to cross forests and unstable dirt roads.
According to Wawan Thalib, a relative of the deceased, Nandar had been taken to Toto Hospital using the same motorbike.
“He was treated for four days, but sadly, he passed away,” Wawan said on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
From Hospital to His Final Resting Place
After Nandar’s death, his corpse was first transported by ambulance from Toto Hospital to Poduwoma Village in Suwawa Timur District.
From there, Peo continued the journey by motorbike.

The trip took around five hours on muddy, uneven paths. At one point, Peo and his relatives even had to overcome a fallen tree blocking the way.
Emotional Return Home
Peo was not alone on the journey; several relatives accompanied him on separate motorbikes to ensure the corpse could be safely brought home.
When they arrived in Tilonggibila, the family and villagers welcomed Nandar’s return with prayers and tears.
A decorated coffin and umbrellas were already prepared at the family home. Carefully, the relatives untied the ropes securing the corpse, which had been covered with a plastic raincoat for protection during the ride, before bringing him inside for the funeral rites.
