In Malaysia, a playful but bold monkey recently became the star of an unexpected roadside scene. The animal could not resist the strong smell of durian, often called the “King of Fruits,” and decided to steal some in broad daylight.

The incident happened when a pickup truck loaded with fresh durians was briefly left unattended, giving the monkey the perfect chance to act.
A Sudden Move by the Roadside
The pickup truck was parked near a roadside area where durians were stacked openly in the back. Without warning, the monkey jumped onto the truck and began grabbing the spiky fruits.
People nearby were shocked but amused as the animal moved quickly, clearly knowing what it wanted.

The monkey showed no fear and focused only on the durians.
The fruit’s strong smell likely attracted the animal from a distance. Durian is popular not only with people but also with wildlife. The monkey carefully picked one fruit, holding it tightly before making its escape.
Caught Clearly on Camera
The entire moment was recorded by a bystander and quickly spread online. The video shows the monkey balancing on the truck, choosing its prize, and then jumping down smoothly. The monkey disappeared into nearby trees with the stolen durian, leaving the truck lighter by one fruit.

The calm speed of the monkey surprised many viewers. There was no panic or noise, just a fast and clean theft. The driver of the truck noticed the missing fruit only after the monkey had already gone.
Durian: An Irresistible Target
Durian is known for its strong smell and rich taste. In Malaysia, it is a valuable fruit, especially during the season. Trucks carrying durians are common sights, but they can also attract animals.
In this case, the open truck made it easy for the monkey to reach the fruit.
A Light Moment for Viewers
People who watched the video found the moment funny and surprising. Seeing a monkey carry out a quick “raid” in daylight felt like a scene from a movie. The event happened around mid-November, during peak durian season, when the fruit is widely available.

The monkey was not hurt, and no people were injured. The truck continued its journey after the brief interruption. What remained was a short but memorable moment that showed how wildlife and daily life sometimes cross paths in unexpected ways.
The durian heist may have lasted only seconds, but it quickly became a story shared far beyond that quiet roadside in Malaysia.
