A heartbreaking accident occurred in the city of Oradea, Romania, on 6 December. CCTV footage shows a speeding Mercedes car losing control at a roundabout and flying into the air over two other cars.

The driver suddenly fainted due to a physical illness, causing the car to go out of control. Everyone from pedestrians to online users was shocked by the severity of the accident. Fortunately, there were no major casualties.
Unusual High-Speed Flight
The footage shows that the car was coming so fast that it could not even turn the roundabout. As a result, it hit the central island and soared into the air. It then narrowly avoided colliding with a bus and a camera pole.

After being in the air for a while, the Mercedes crashed to the ground. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and sent the injured driver to the hospital.
Health Risks and Investigation
Local police said that the driver fainted during a diabetic episode. Therefore, he could not control the car. Although he was taken to the hospital for treatment, he later decided not to be admitted.

The incident has also reignited the discussion on driving fitness. Because sudden health problems can be risky for the driver as well as for the people around him.
Netizens’ Reactions
The online reactions were mixed with surprise and light humor. Some joked that the car had taken wings after drinking a strong energy drink. Others said that even though the accident occurred due to health reasons, a major danger was fortunately avoided. Others expressed concern that such high-speed driving could have caused a bigger disaster.

Legal Action and Car Damage
The car entered the roundabout from the wrong side and jumped the central island due to high speed. The collision caused major damage to the car, and the driver was trapped. Rescue workers extricated him and sent him to the hospital. He was later fined about $365 (about S$472) and is likely to have his license suspended for 90 days.
