A 43-year-old man in Florida was arrested after he chased, tackled, and pinned an 11-year-old girl to the ground, believing she had been throwing eggs at his apartment.
The incident took place around 12.05 pm on Saturday, 19 April 2025, at the Allison Park Place apartment complex in Hillsborough County.
Deputies responded to the scene after receiving reports of “a man assaulting a child,” according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Girl Cried for Help While Pinned to the Ground
In a video recorded by a neighbor, the girl was heard crying out for help as the man forced her to the ground.
She can be heard screaming, “Please, I wasn’t doing anything. I swear on my life. Help me.”

The man was seen attempting to grab her arms and restrain her while she struggled to break free.
A bystander eventually intervened, ordering him to let her go as others nearby shouted for someone to call the police.

He Assumed the Girl was Behind the Egging Incidents
When deputies arrived, the girl was visibly distressed. The man, later identified as Marius Mutu, told officers that his apartment had been egged multiple times over the past week.

After it happened again that day, he assumed the girl, who happened to be walking nearby, was responsible. He then chased after and pinned the girl down.
He told deputies he was trying to take a photo of the girl to report her to apartment management.

Facing Battery and False Imprisonment Charges
Mutu was arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of battery and false imprisonment (when someone intentionally restrains or confines another person without their permission and without legal authority), NBC News reported.
Investigations are ongoing. Authorities have not confirmed whether the child had any involvement in the earlier egg-throwing incidents.
