Man Climbs Into Enclosure for Selfies
A 29-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked by a crocodile at a zoo in the Philippines, after he climbed into its enclosure thinking the animal was a statue.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 28, at the Kabug Mangrove Park and Wetlands Zoo in Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines.
According to The Sun UK, the man reportedly climbed over a chain-link fence and walked into a shallow pool where the 15-foot crocodile, ‘Lalay’, was resting.
He then reportedly took out his phone to snap selfies with the crocodile.
Crocodile Bit and Thrashed the Man Around
However, moments later, the crocodile lunged and bit into the man’s arm. Lalay then reportedly tossed and turned around in the water and clamped its jaws on the man while dragging him through the water.
Screengrab from YouTube videoDuring the attack, the man could be heard wailing in pain while the crocodile remained locked onto his arm.

Onlookers at the scene watched curiously and were both scared and worried for him.

Victim Trapped in Cage for 30 Minutes
It is also reported that the man was trapped inside the enclosure for about 30 minutes before the crocodile’s caretaker intervened.
Caretaker Used Cement Block to Free the Man
To stop the attack, the caretaker entered the enclosure and reportedly hit Lalay on the head with a cement block, making it finally release the man.
After being pulled to safety, medics wrapped the man’s wounds before he was brought to a nearby hospital.
He received over 50 stitches from this incident.

Police Sergeant Joel Sajolga confirmed that he was walking around the area when he spotted the crocodile, mistook it for a plastic display, and climbed over the fence for a closer look.
He also described the man’s actions as “foolish,” as he not only risked his own life but also put others around him in danger.
Despite the violent attack, the man was fortunate to escape with his life.
