Snakes often find their way into unexpected places—coiled in a car engine, hidden in a shoe, or slithering through a marketplace. But one Thai man discovered a snake in perhaps the most unlikely spot of all—his ice pop.
What started as a simple frozen treat quickly turned into a shocking discovery, triggering both amusement and concern online.
A man in Ratchaburi, Thailand, was shocked to find a snake frozen inside his ice pop, sparking debate about food safety.
A Startling Find in a Frozen Treat
On March 4, the man bought a black bean-flavored ice pop from a street vendor. But when he unwrapped it, he was stunned to find a bright green and black snake encased in the ice.

Viral Reaction and Speculations
Sharing his experience on Facebook, he jokingly wrote, “Those eyes… is it still alive? This is real—I bought it myself.” The post went viral, gaining 8.7k reactions and 9.3k shares.

Though it was not confirmed what type of snake it is, many commenters speculated that the snake could be a golden tree snake (Chrysopelea ornata), a mildly venomous species commonly found in Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia.

Public Reactions: Humor and Concerns
While some were horrified, others took a more humorous approach.
One commenter jokingly said, “Green like Indra’s color. If you eat it, you might become a deity.” (A reference to Indra, a deity in Hindu and Buddhist mythology, who is often associated with the color green in Thai culture.)
Another speculated, “Maybe it’s actually one of the main ingredients. The other ice pops didn’t have snakes because they were blended properly.”
A third quipped, “One bite, one night of funeral prayers.”
Some netizens even jokingly referred to it as the “Secret Stick” ice cream.
Authorities Yet to Respond
Despite the viral attention, authorities have yet to comment on the incident, according to Nation Thailand.
It remains unclear how the snake ended up in the ice pop or whether an investigation will be conducted.
