Early on Tuesday morning, April 22, a man in Membakut, Sabah, was left in disbelief when he found a baby girl abandoned in a cardboard box placed directly in front of his doorstep along with a note asking him to care for her.
According to Sinar Harian, the incident occurred around 6.45 am when the man was about to leave for work.
Written on it was a plea: “My child is in this box. Please take care of my child, may you be blessed with sustenance.”

Motorcycle Seen Outside the House Earlier
According to Beaufort District Police Chief Superintendent Wong Leong Meng, the man had woken up earlier that morning around 5.40 am and noticed a motorcycle parked near his house.
He didn’t think anything of it at the time and simply peeked out the window before the rider drove off.
It wasn’t until about 6 am, when the man stepped outside to leave for work, that he discovered the box with the baby inside wrapped in a towel.

Baby Taken to Hospital for Immediate Care
The baby, estimated to be about 36 weeks old, was quickly rushed to the paediatric ward at Beaufort Hospital for medical attention.

Additionally, Superintendent Wong stated that the hospital took a blood sample from the baby for a paternity test as part of the investigation.
Authorities Investigating Under Child Abandonment Law
The authorities are investigating the incident under Section 317 of the Penal Code, which deals with the concealment of birth and abandonment of a child.
If the person responsible is caught, they could face up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both.
The investigation is still ongoing.
