Man Cheats Death After Tree Saves Him from Fatal Mountain Fall

In what can only be described as a terrifying brush with death, a 42-year-old man named Yang Meng fell down a rain-soaked mountainside in the Fanzengjian Mountains, located in China’s Anhui province.

The incident, which was caught on his 360-degree camera, showed Meng skidding uncontrollably down the slope before a tree miraculously saved his life.

Terrifying Fall Caught on Camera

Meng was hiking with a friend when the ground gave way beneath him, caused by slippery conditions from heavy rain. The area had recently faced two powerful typhoons, Bebinca and Yagi, making it particularly dangerous.

Meng’s fall was captured on a 360-degree camera, showing the frightening moment he lost control on a slippery slope. Recalling the horrifying moment, Meng shared how helpless he felt as he slid faster down the hill, unable to stop himself.

His panic intensified as he struggled to regain his footing, ultimately crashing into a tree that prevented him from sliding any further.

Moments later, the footage from his camera showed a rope being thrown down to him, presumably from his hiking friend above, ready to help him get back on his feet.

Minor Injuries, Big Lesson

Despite the scary fall, Meng walked away with only minor injuries. In a video update, he mentioned that he only suffered a few bruises on his leg and a scrape on his hand.

Grateful for his luck, Meng noted that life is short. While he’s still passionate about adventure, he plans to be more careful in the future.

Typhoon Rains Made Trails Dangerous

The heavy rains that led to Meng’s fall were caused by Typhoons Bebinca and Yagi, which had recently hit the region. These storms turned the hiking trails in Anhui province into slippery, risky paths.

According to reports, Typhoon Bebinca was one of the strongest storms to hit Shanghai in years, making conditions even more dangerous for hikers.

Safety Tips for Wet-Weather Hiking

Meng’s close call is a reminder for hikers everywhere to take safety seriously, especially when weather conditions are challenging. Here are some safety tips for navigating the trails:

  • Always check the weather
  • Wear appropriate gear
  • Bring safety essentials
  • Don’t hike alone
  • Know your limits
