A violent confrontation at a flat on Jalan Ara Kuda, Penang, left a 52-year-old Malaysian man in critical condition after his left eyeball was gouged out during a drunken altercation.
The incident occurred on Saturday, November 16, at around 2 p.m., when the victim, who was reportedly intoxicated, allegedly provoked a 28-year-old foreigner.
Suspect Gouged Eyeball With Bare Hands
The confrontation escalated into violence, with the younger man reportedly using his bare hands to gouge out the victim’s left eyeball. The fight is said to have begun over a misunderstanding between the two men, who are neighbors.
Additionally, the victim also suffered injuries to his right eye.
Videos of the aftermath, shared widely on social media X by user @/update11111, show the injured man lying in a pool of blood while bystanders look on in horror.
One witness can be heard in the video exclaiming, “The eye came out oh,” expressing his shock and disbelief at the scene.
Victim’s Eyeball Found Nearby
Ministry of Health personnel who arrived to transport the victim to Kepala Batas Hospital discovered the left eyeball just meters from the scene.
Update on the Victim’s Condition
Following this incident, the victim, now in stable condition, is being treated at Penang Hospital. According to Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad, the victim is improving but will suffer permanent disability as a result of the violent encounter.
