Incident Happened During Morning Rush Hour
On the morning of 8 April 2025, an 18-year-old man was detained by police after he was seen running naked at a traffic junction along Persiaran Kayangan in Section 8, Shah Alam, Malaysia.
A video of the man running naked went viral on social media.
According to a statement issued by Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, the police received information about the incident at around 8:30 am. A patrol team from the Section 6 police station was immediately sent to the location.
Police Calmed the Man and Brought Him In
Officers at the scene managed to persuade and calm the man before escorting him to the Section 6 police station.
At the time of his detention, he was completely naked.
According to Sinar Harian, the officers provided the man with clothes once he arrived at the station. He was not able to speak, and only communicated through hand gestures. He eventually wrote down a phone number for someone who could be contacted.
Relative Confirms Teen Has Mental Health History
A man who later arrived at the police station identified himself as the teen’s uncle.
His uncle then informed police that the 18-year-old had a history of mental health issues and had previously received psychiatric treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital in Penang.
Additionally, the teen had been staying with his uncle’s family in Section 9, Shah Alam.
ACP Iqbal confirmed that the teen had been safely handed over to his uncle and would be receiving further treatment at Shah Alam Hospital.
