A deeply disturbing case of animal abuse unfolded on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in the Rawai area of Phuket, Thailand, when a man allegedly buried one of his Siberian Huskies alive in his backyard.
The dog was reportedly found with only its head exposed above the ground, crying out in distress.

Local residents, alarmed by the sounds, stepped in to save the animal.
Neighbour Says She Saw the Act Unfold
A woman living next door told the environmental Facebook page MONSOONGARBAGE THAILAND that she had been hearing howls from the property for several days.
On the day of the incident, the cries intensified, and when she looked over the fence, she claimed she saw the man in the act of burying the dog.
Rescue Led by Neighbours After Police Allegedly Declined to Respond
According to The Thaiger, the woman contacted the police but was told they would not come.
Fearing for the dog’s life, she and several others forcibly entered the property and dug the dog out themselves.
Incident Shared Online, Officials Alerted
The video of the rescue was later posted to MONSOONGARBAGE THAILAND, where it quickly gained attention.
The page tagged Phuket Member of Parliament Chalermpong Saengdee and Rawai Mayor Tems Kraithat, urging them to take immediate action.
Authorities and Soi Dog Foundation Remove Three Dogs
Shortly after the video went viral, Rawai officials, local police, and members of the Soi Dog Foundation visited the property.
They removed all three Siberian Huskies found at the home, including the one that had been buried, and placed them under the foundation’s care, Thairath reported.

Owner Questioned, Legal Action Expected
Staff from the Soi Dog Foundation spoke to the owner of the dogs, a foreign national man, at the scene before turning him over to police for questioning.

The foundation confirmed its intention to pursue legal action related to the incident.
Man Reportedly Claimed the Dog Was Unwell
According to reports, the owner claimed the dog was ill.
However, no explanation was provided for why the animal was buried while still alive. Police are now overseeing the case.
All Dogs Found in Weak Condition
The buried Husky is believed to be the offspring of the other two dogs found on the property.
All three were reported to be in poor physical condition at the time of the rescue.

Soi Dog Foundation Providing Care and Shelter
The three dogs are now under the care of the Soi Dog Foundation, where they are receiving treatment and recovery support.
They will remain in the shelter until they are healthy enough to be adopted into new homes.
