A video dramatizing a man against a king cobra with only a machete has become a viral video on social media and has scared many people in Malaysia.

The video clip, which lasted only 47 seconds, went viral and soon attracted a lot of attention not only due to the dangerous snake, but also due to the screams in the background.
Unexpected and Threatening
Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia posted the video on January 28 on facebook. It starts within what seems to be a house compound in Kedah. One of the men is observed carrying a machete and walking slowly, evidently knowing that something bad is in the vicinity. His actions are cautious and one can just sense the tension in the scene.

After a few seconds, the huge king cobra enters and stands on its hind legs with the man staring at it face-to-face. The snake is approximated to be approximately two metres high, which further complicates the matter since it looks more terrifying. The cobra opens its hood and stands its ground, there is no indication that it is going back.
Quick Action and Machete Strike
When the snake comes nearer, the man suddenly pulls out the machete and hits it. The king cobra turns back and goes back into the house. This man then trails behind and he is able to hold the snake by the tail. His attempts to control the situation make him drag it out of the building and maintain some distance.

There are two women who could be heard screaming throughout the video. Although we do not see them, their voices contribute to the panic and drama of the situation. The whole confrontation is extremely fast, shocking and leaving the viewers in turmoil.
Animal Group Issues Warning
Upon the video going viral, a caution was issued to the people by the Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia. They also reminded the people that it is very dangerous to handle snake species without training. The group recommended that they should call the trained rescue teams, which included the Fire and Rescue Department, or the Civil Defence Force.
They clarified that a single error such as when confronting a king cobra would result in severe injury or even death. They were simply telling them that courage is not sufficient in such a case.
Screaming Takes the Stage
Although the snake assault was dramatic in itself, a number of viewers paid attention to the screaming voices in the background.

There were those who said it contributed to the fear of an already threatening situation. The video has been already shared over 1,500 times and has already had over 2,100 comments.
The event has also resumed the debate on the internet concerning wildlife experiences and how easily such experiences can become life-threatening experiences when animals venture into human environments.
