After 14 Years, Malaysian Man Finally Lands Dream Government Job at 37

In his early 20s, a Malaysian man known as Fadzli set his sights on becoming a government servant—a position symbolizing stability and respect.

But turning that dream into reality would be a grueling 14-year journey marked by rejections, missed opportunities, and immense challenges.

Balancing his day job as a postman, he applied through the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA), Malaysia’s Public Services Commission. Despite failing numerous exams and interviews, he remained positive.

The Long-Awaited Breakthrough

However, at 37, his perseverance finally paid off. The life-changing news of his acceptance into the government service came at a special time—his wife, Fiza, was four months pregnant with their first child.

For the couple, this was a special achievement, a deeply emotional moment they felt was thanks to their unborn son.

“We truly believe it’s our son’s rezeki,” his wife shared, referring to the cultural belief that children bring blessings and sustenance to their families.

This belief made their achievement more meaningful, seeing it as a family blessing, not just a job success.

New Beginnings

Their blessings didn’t end there. By the eighth month of her pregnancy, the wife accompanied her husband on his first day of orientation at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

To their relief, his job was close to home, making this new chapter even easier.

For the family, these events strengthened their belief in life’s blessings and the idea that patience and persistence bring rewards.

As Fiza said, “All of it is Alam’s blessing,” believing their son brought them this good fortune.

Comments and Reactions

Many viewers were deeply moved by the video, resonating with the man’s journey and the family’s emotional breakthrough.

One commenter, who is also a postman, shared their own experience of waiting for a government position after an interview earlier this year.

“I’m also a postman… and still waiting for the position I applied for in the Sarawak state civil service. Had the interview back in August. Hoping there’s some good fortune (rezeki).”

Another commenter shared their relief at seeing someone who truly wanted to join the government service finally succeed. They encouraged the man to do his best, noting that not everyone in government values their opportunities.

“I’m so relieved when someone who genuinely wants to join the government service finally gets in. Do your best at work, okay? Because many have been in the government for a long time but still don’t appreciate the opportunity they’ve been given.”

Several viewers were visibly emotional, with one person admitting to shedding tears while watching the video.

Another commenter admired the husband’s determination, saying his story gave them strength in their own struggles. While wishing the family to receive continued blessings.

“I cried watching this, I respect your husband, may you and your family always be blessed with abundance, I was down with my current life but your husband showed me how I should be strong like him.”

The Challenges Behind Securing a Government Job

Securing a government position in Malaysia is no small feat. Candidates must undergo rigorous screening processes, including competitive exams and interviews. Limited vacancies, high competition, and the emphasis on qualifications often leave many hopefuls facing repeated rejections.

This man’s journey shows the challenges many Malaysians face when trying to get government jobs. His persistence for over ten years, despite many failures, highlights the importance of staying strong in the face of difficulties.
