Couple in Sentosa spots lost beagle inside drain, lure it using dog treats and help reunite it with owner

Spotted while longboarding

A team-effort led to the reunion of a Beagle that had been missing for 2 days with its owner. The rescue was documented and led by Que and their girlfriend who were longboarding in Sentosa. Although they were there to longboard, Que shared that their girlfriend brought along dog treats and a leash as she was aware that there was a beagle who had gone missing in Sentosa 2 days prior.

During their session, they came across a lady who was trying to lift a drain cover. Que and their partner went over to offer their help to lift the drain cover.

Luring the dog with treats

After they removed the drain cover, they noticed that the dog was peering out of the drain to look at them. Que remarked that the dog looked traumatised and hungry. Que’s girlfriend then offered some treats to the dog.

The dog stepped out of the drain to eat the treats. At this juncture, Que and their partner moved very carefully as they did not want to do anything that may startle the dog and cause it to retreat back into the drain.

Contacting the Beagle’s Owner

While they tried to keep the beagle outside the drain with the aid of dog treats, another lady who was in a Telegram group for lost pets managed to get in touch with the owner of the beagle. The dog’s owner rushed down to the scene immediately.

The owner then descended down the drain and the Beagle recognised her. Using the leash that Que’s partner bought, they were able to secure the dog.

In the video, a few persons could be seen gathered around the beagle, who was being carried in a blue Decathalon bag.

Dog ran away due to fireworks

According to Que, the owner’s dog had ran away from the house 2 days prior due to “fireworks”.

When asked if they had wanted any remuneration, Que stated that they would not want any as all they wanted was for the dog to be reunited with its owner.

Praises from Netizens

Many TikTok users praised Que and their partner for their kindness that led to the dog’s rescue. The video of the rescue on TikTok was viewed more than 75,000 times and attracted more than 100 comments.
