A 28-year-old Peruvian man in Lima, Peru, had an unbelievably lucky escape after a cargo train ran over him while he was allegedly drunk and asleep along the tracks.
Caught on Camera
The incident happened on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in the Ate district, and was captured on surveillance footage.
The video showed the man, identified as Juan Carlos Tello, lying motionless along the railway tracks as the train approached.
Moments later, the train struck his head, knocking him onto his side and dragging him several meters before he somehow rolled over beneath and onto the road below.
Walks Away with Scrapes and Bruises
Despite the terrifying impact, Tello surprisingly remained conscious and alive. The footage showed him rolling away from the train before struggling to his feet and stumbling toward the curb.
Passersby rushed to his aid and tried stopping him when he wanted to leave the scene.
Tello then sat beside a white van, seemingly trying to grasp the situation.
Additionally, in the footage, three men can be seen—one of them seemingly on the phone, likely alerting the authorities about the incident.
Authorities later confirmed he suffered only minor injuries to his left arm.
A Near-Miraculous Survival
General Javier Avalos, a security official in the area, said the train was on its scheduled route toward the Andes when the accident happened.
“The train knocked him over but through some miracle did not kill him,” reports quoted him as saying.
Tello was later taken to a local hospital for treatment.
