Sudden Hammer Attack Inside Store
A 28-year-old man was arrested after attacking a woman unprovoked with a hammer inside a convenience store in Japan on Saturday night, July 26.

The incident occurred in Kyoto’s Minami Ward, shortly after 9 p.m., when a store employee called emergency services, initially reporting that a person inside was carrying a knife.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man holding a hammer and arrested him immediately for assault.

Woman Suffers Serious Head Injury
The suspect, an unemployed resident of Kyoto, reportedly struck a 54-year-old woman, also a Kyoto resident, in the head.
She sustained a depressed skull fracture on the right side of her head, which is considered a serious injury.
Victim Sent to Hospital for Treatment
The woman was conscious when police arrived and was taken to a hospital in Kyoto for treatment.
The hammer used in the attack was described as a standard claw hammer, with a 36 cm handle and a 13.5 cm head, including a nail puller.

Surveillance Footage Captured the Assault
Security camera footage from inside the store showed the man approaching the woman from behind and hitting her once on the head with the hammer.
The strike appeared to be completely unprovoked.
When questioned by police, the suspect admitted to the act. According to KTV, he stated:
“There’s no doubt I hit the woman with a hammer.”
No Prior Connection Between Them
Police confirmed that the suspect and the woman did not know each other. The motive remains unknown, and police are working to uncover the full details of the incident as the investigation continues.
