An Indonesian woman, known as Nana, recently experienced a terrifying moment when a lightning strike hit a tall tree near a tennis court during her practice session.
The incident, captured on video and shared on Nana’s TikTok account (@nfianas), quickly went viral, garnering over 17.2 million views.
“I Just Wanted to Finish Practice”—Then Lightning Struck
According to Nana, the lightning struck during the last 30 minutes of her tennis practice.
The weather had just cleared up after heavy rain, and many were playing football on the adjacent field. Without warning, lightning hit the tallest tree near the football field, causing immediate panic.
“I was just trying to make the most of the last 30 minutes of my training session when the lightning struck,”
Nana explained, “The people on the football field started screaming, and I was so shocked I dropped my racket and froze. My coach couldn’t say a word—he said he saw the light fall right in front of his eyes.”
“Should Be Grateful for More Time”
The viral video sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many expressing their shock and relief that Nana escaped unharmed.
One commenter shared a personal experience, saying, “I’ve experienced this too… but it happened to me at night, right in front of my eyes. It was truly traumatic.”
Humorously, another user joked about Nana’s tennis skills, writing, “What a powerful swing—so strong it summoned lightning.”
Another highlighted safety concerns, with them remarking, “You really shouldn’t play outside when it’s raining—lightning is dangerous.”
While another reflected on the gravity of the situation, saying, “You should be more grateful for being given more time to live.”
Dangers of Unpredictable Weather
The incident saw the dangers of sudden weather changes. Unstable weather conditions, like thunderstorms following heavy rain, can pose serious risks, including lightning strikes.
Fortunately, Nana managed to leave the court safely and unharmed.
