A teenager from India has captured global attention for promoting peace in a now-viral video, after he calmly rejected a reporter’s push to denounce Pakistan during a street interview in the midst of renewed India-Pakistan conflict.
Identifying himself as Muhammad Kaif, the boy replied “long live everyone in their own space” when asked to pick a side. The video, posted on May 7 by platform @IlmFeed, has garnered tens of millions of views and turned Kaif into an unexpected anti-war icon.
When the reporter demanded to know if Kaif felt ashamed for his stance, the teen replied, “Why should I be ashamed?” and added,
“There are people over there too. Hindus, Muslims – here and there. Everyone is human. Then why kill everyone?”
He later ended the conversation with a sharp rebuke that resonated with many: “Who taught you this?” the reporter asked. “Bro, I have a brain,” Kaif replied.
Renewed Conflict Between Nuclear Rivals
The video emerged days after India launched airstrikes into Pakistani territory on May 6 and 7 in response to a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir on April 22.
Tensions escalated quickly, with Pakistan downing Indian fighter jets and drones, and both countries trading military blows and political threats.
Viewer Reactions
Viewers flooded the comments with support and positivity for the boy.
Others expressed their concerns over the reporter exposing the child’s full name publicly.
A Youth Voice in a Divisive Time
While nationalist sentiment is rising on both sides, Kaif’s response has sparked praise from people worldwide. Social media users have hailed him as a symbol of humanity, maturity, and reason at a time when leaders and media often push polarising narratives.
His words have struck a chord with younger generations increasingly tired of conflict, with many commentators highlighting the clip as proof of a growing global youth movement calling for peace over division.
Kaif’s clarity and compassion, amid one of South Asia’s most volatile moments, is now being celebrated as a timely reminder: humanity should come before borders.
