Choosing the right person to marry is one of life’s biggest decisions. Marriage should be about love, trust, and understanding. However, when emotions run high, especially with substance abuse involved, things can take a tragic turn.
This is what happened in Indonesia, where a man killed his wife after she refused to hug him.
The Incident
A man from the Tanimbar Islands, Indonesia, fatally stabbed his wife on the evening of Wednesday, January 1, 2025, after she turned down his request for a hug.
According to Sinar Harian, the incident took place around 7 PM local time in Dusun Wesawak, West IIngei Preparatory Village, South Tanimbar, Indonesia.
Refused to Hug Him Because He was Drunk
The suspect, whose name has not been revealed, was drunk when he approached his wife, asking her for a hug. When she refused, he became angry.
According to AKP Handry Dwi Azhari, the Head of Criminal Investigations for the Tanimbar Islands, the argument began when the victim didn’t want to hug her husband while he was intoxicated.
His anger led him to grab a machete, and in a fit of rage, he stabbed her multiple times, including in the shoulder.
The victim tried to escape but collapsed and died from her injuries at the scene.
Suspect Arrested, Faces 15-Year Sentence
Following the incident, the police quickly arrested the suspect.
He now faces charges that could result in a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
