Japan has a reputation of transforming the most basic and common necessities into smart and practical concepts. Small innovations generally astonish the visitors, be it in terms of the vending machines of preparing hot meals to the high speed public transportation.

Recently, another novel yet basic concept of Japan has gone viral, and this time around, it is futsal footwear.
A Video That Roused Curiosity
In a brief video that was posted on Tik Tok, it was revealed that Japanese citizens can rent futsal shoes with the help of a vending machine. The video has gone viral within a short period of time due to the unexpected and very pragmatic idea.

In the video, a man hires a pair of futsal shoes for 600 yen, which is approximately RM15 to RM 20, depending on the exchange rate. To most viewers, the price in itself was shocking.
The Shoe Rental Machine
Players do not have to go to a sports counter or a shop to rent football shoes, but can use a special vending machine created specifically to rent futsal shoes. The machine shows various rent out alternatives using explicit prices.

The payment could be done via a credit card and can be done via a smartphone, thus being quick and easy. When payment is made, a ticket is printed out by the machine, and is then used to pick up the shoes.
From Ticket To The Court
After the ticket has been printed, a renter takes it to a counter that is close by. The employees will then request the shoe size and deliver the rented futsal shoes. The entire procedure consumes a few minutes.

It does not require a long waiting period, no paperwork or speaking too much. It is all made easy and simple even to those people who just want to play.
The State Of The Hired Shoes
The state of the futsal shoes is also demonstrated in the video. The shoes are in good condition though they seem to be worn slightly. The stitching is good, soles are not tearing up and no spots of damage can be found. They appear to be fit for casual, brief games. This fact contributed to the removal of fears of individuals who may be scared of renting second-hand sports shoes.
Why This Stands Out In Japan
Sports shoes would be inconvenient to carry around by tourists or casual players. With this type of vending machine service, it is possible to have spontaneous games without additional planning. It is another manifestation of how Japan is concerned with convenience and efficiency in daily living. This little concept has again demonstrated why Japan is so interesting to people around the world.
