On Sunday, February 2, 2025, a disturbing incident occurred in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico, when a man allegedly bit a young woman’s buttock as she attempted to unlock her front door.
Security camera footage, later circulated online, showed the man following the victim in a white car before committing the assault.
Attack Caught on CCTV Footage
According to the CCTV, the incident occurred on February 2, 2025, around 6:16 PM.
The footage revealed the victim walking along Avenida 12 de Octubre in the Zona de Oro neighborhood while carrying a stack of books.
Additionally, in the video, a white car was trailing her discreetly.
In another clip, presumably after leaving his car, the man was seen following the woman from afar while holding his groin area.
As she stopped at her home to unlock the door, the man ran towards her, crouched down, and allegedly bit her buttock before fleeing back to his car.
According to reports, the victim immediately went to the local police to file a complaint. However, she was allegedly told that no crime had been committed.
Fortunately, the situation gained momentum when the CCTV footage was widely shared on social media.
Felt Something Wet on Her Back
According to Azteca Morelos, after the incident, the victim screamed in shock, later explaining to local media that she couldn’t see the perpetrator’s face but felt something wet on her back during the attack.
Two days after the incident, the State Attorney General’s Office of Guanajuato stepped in and contacted the victim directly.
Prosecutor Gerardo Vázquez Alatriste personally reached out to offer the victim support and pledged that the case would be investigated with diligence.
Arrest and Legal Action
The man, identified as Federico Esteban “N,” 45, was arrested several days after the attack. The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Guanajuato later shared his photo on the social media platform X.
According to the Guanajuato Attorney General’s Office, the arrest was made following the attack. The suspect has been charged with sexual abuse and has been presented before a judge.
“There is no room for impunity in Guanajuato. Violence against women will be punished with the full weight of the law,” the Prosecutor’s Office emphasizes its constant commitment to upholding justice and protecting victims.
The Institute for Women of Guanajuato also released a statement denouncing the attack and offering support to the victim.
They called for zero tolerance for gender-based violence and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting women and girls.
