A 33-year-old father of three who was killed in a fatal crash in Klang on Sunday (March 29) was reportedly on his way to buy a Mathematics book for his eldest child before the new school term began.
The victim, identified as Amirul Hafiz Omar, had left home at about 10am after telling his wife he wanted to get the schoolbook he had been planning to buy for several days.

According to his wife, Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, the couple’s last conversation took place shortly before 11am. She said Amirul had messaged her asking about some documents and later informed her that an item had arrived. After that, she was unable to contact him.

Not long later, she received a call from a traffic police officer informing her that her husband had been involved in an accident. At first, she reportedly thought it was a scam call, but when the officer mentioned Amirul’s name, she immediately feared the worst.
Driver Allegedly Overtook Into Opposite Lane
The crash took place at around 11:40am along Jalan Raya Barat in Klang. Police said the driver of a Honda City was allegedly speeding and overtaking several vehicles before entering the opposite lane. The car then collided head-on with Amirul’s motorcycle, and the impact killed him at the scene.

Investigations found that the driver later tested positive for both alcohol and drugs. He has since been remanded for four days to assist with investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of Malaysia’s Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence causing death.
Father Worked Two Jobs to Support Family
Amirul was reportedly working two jobs to support his family. By day, he worked at a warehouse, and at night, he took on part-time delivery rider work. He leaves behind his wife and three children, aged between two and nine.
His wife said the children still do not fully understand what has happened and believe that their father is unwell. She added that she intends to pursue legal action and hopes stricter punishment will be imposed on drunk drivers.
Crash Video Sparks Public Anger
Footage of the crash has since gone viral on social media. Dashcam video circulating online appears to show the car overtaking several vehicles at high speed before entering the lane of oncoming traffic. The collision reportedly flung Amirul onto the roof of another car.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with many calling for tougher laws against drink-driving and reckless driving offences. Several Malaysian lawmakers have since urged the government to review existing penalties for DUI cases involving fatalities. Transport Minister Anthony Loke also said further amendments to the Road Transport Act are being drafted, including provisions requiring offenders to compensate victims’ families.
Family Calls for Justice
Speaking through tears, Amirul’s wife said she wants justice for her husband and children. She said the current laws are not enough to reflect the life that was lost.
Amirul was laid to rest later that night at the Kampung Repoh Muslim Cemetery.
