It is terrifying to know that some amongst us harbour so much evil to treat helpless dogs this way.
On 14 January, 9 dogs were rescued from a “hoarder” in Lim Chu Kang. This was made possible due to a joint operation between Chained Dog Awareness Singapore (CDAS), Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter (OSCAS), Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD), and NParks.
2 days prior to the rescue, CDAS shared the “shocking discovery” of the dogs via a video.
Dogs found in skin and bones while others are either seriously sick, injured or in extreme stress. Something was not right. These dogs were barking excessively, at times they were whining in pain. It prompted the feedback provider and our volunteers to scale a high wall to find out what’s going on in these kennels located in Lim Chu Kang.
There are 9 dogs found in the following conditions:
– extremely emaciated.
– Seriously sick
– Injured
– Exhibiting high anxiety
To say that these dogs were kept in horrible conditions would be a gross understatement. On 13 January, CDAS reported that at least one of the dogs was “already not able to get up and dragging itself to reach the food our volunteers thrown to him.”
Many of these dogs are now critically ill and malnourished. It goes without saying that their mental state is also in shambles. There is no need for any descriptions, as these horrifying pictures speak for themselves.
While the relevant authorities investigate how these state of affairs came about, we now need to focus on giving these dogs all the medical attention, care, and love that they need.
In an Instagram post, OSCAS Singapore, an animal-welfare group that took in 6 of the 9 dogs that were rescued, said that they are “doing everything that we can to try and restore their health and give them the love they have been so deprived of.”
WUSG understands that OSCAS is caring for 6 dogs, ASD is caring for 2 dogs, while CDAS is caring for the remaining dog, Poppy, who is still hospitalised.
In a heartbreaking call for donations, the group said:-
“We are not sure if these dogs will make it as their condition is so bad. They have been neglected for years. We need as much help as we can get for their medical treatment and any other need that arises for them. Please donate generously and share this post with your friends and family to encourage others to help.
These dogs have endured extreme cruelty and even if they do not make it, we want them to have an infinite amount of love, attention and veterinary care. Thank you.”
