Cosplay Terkece This Year Shocks Audiences With Kung Fu Hustle Character Choice

There has been an increase in popularity of Cosplay especially in company events and themed parties in the last couple of years. Some individuals take weeks to work out elaborate costumes, special make-up and costly materials.

Nevertheless, a Malaysian woman demonstrated that creativity and confidence can be even more sparkling than complicated clothes. Her cosplay figure shocked the whole world and was soon remembered as one of the highlights of the year.

The cosplay competition is an annual dinner, which was organized by her company in the Genting Highlands, to which she entered as a woman known online as Karine. She did not select a contemporary superhero or fantasy character but instead she dressed up as the Landlady in the popular film Kung Fu Hustle. The film is also famous with her loud voice, strong personality and unique appearance which make a one second recognition in the eyes of the film viewers.

An Elegant Costume That Screamed.

The costume of Karine was extremely plain. She had a white sleeping gown and rollers on her hair and house slippers. She even had a fake cigarette dangling over her mouth, to complete the appearance. There was no dramatizing done or costly props. However, when she entered the hall, there were cheers of loud laughter. The character was instantly recognised by many people.

Karine remained in character as she walked to the stage. She gestured positively, took off her slipper as in the film, and imitated the well-known furious looks of the Landlady. With each step she made, the crowd got more excited due to her performance.

Even though Kung Fu Hustle is a Cantonese film, individuals with other backgrounds were evidently enjoying the moment. The humour and the energy of the character tore borders and cultures apart and united everyone in a fun experience.

The cosplay competition featured quite a number of hard competition participants. The other participants were dressed as Doctor Strange, Charlie Chaplin, Cruella de Vil and Maleficent. Each of the competitors passed the runway and presented him or herself in character. Regardless of the stiff competition, the entrance of Karine received the greatest applause in the room.

At the time when winners were declared, Karine won first place. Doctor Strange followed and Maleficent took the third place.

This win was not artificial because, even with the crowd, it was clear whom they liked most.

This cosplay scene is one that cannot be forgotten, and it demonstrates that the correct choice of character and an assertive performance can take the stage.
