Child Vomits in Car: Driver Comforts Sick Child Instead of Getting Angry

Numerous private hire and taxi drivers transport passengers on the roads of Singapore every day. It is normal to lose patience at times due to time pressure, worries about losing income, and traffic congestion.

However, recently, a female driver’s humane behavior has been praised on social media.

Unexpected Incident

The woman by the name of Ang Ee Xin shared her experience in a driver-oriented group on Facebook. She said that a little girl sitting in the middle of the journey suddenly vomited.

The child’s clothes, seatbelt and car seat got dirty. The situation instantly became uncomfortable due to the strong smell.

Sympathetic Behavior

However, the driver did not get angry or say anything loudly. Instead, she tried to calm the child and let her smell lavender.

Then, upon reaching the destination, she reassured the child’s mother and told her not to worry about the matter and enjoy the holiday. Later, she decided to clean the car herself.

“I should have been more prepared”

The driver said that she believes that children do not do such things intentionally. Rather, she said, there was a lack of preparation on her part. She saw it as karma or a message from life.

“Maybe the universe was telling me to slow down. To take a short break. To clean up and reset, even though I had just started my day.”

She took that day as an opportunity for herself to slow down and start anew.

Unexpected Respect

After the incident, she received a $25 tip from passengers. She was surprised and moved by it.

The driver said that she shared this experience for other drivers to consider the situation from a humane perspective rather than being quick to get angry with children.

Reaction on Social Media

Many people on social media have cited her behavior as an example of rare humanity. Some have shared their own bitter experiences and said that such compassionate drivers are rare.  Others feel that asking for cleaning expenses if necessary is not unreasonable, but humility makes the situation much easier.

Many netizens have praised the driver’s mentality, saying that such an approach makes society more beautiful.
