The popular traditional cake Lapis from Sarawak, Malaysia, is in high demand during festivals. However, a luxurious version of this cake has recently emerged, causing a lot of discussion on social media. Known as ‘Cake Lapis Sultan,’ the price per tray of this cake has been set at 1,800 ringgit (around S$585). After the price was announced, many netizens expressed surprise and made various comments on the matter.

However, due to the special features and ingredients of the cake, it quickly became the center of discussion. The maker claims that its taste and preparation process make it unique.
The Idea of an Exceptional Cake
This luxurious cake was created by Adhar Brahim, a 38-year-old baker from Kuching. He has been experimenting with different combinations of flavors and ingredients for about a year. His goal was to take the traditional Sarawak cake to the level of an international dessert.

For this, he added new flavors and also changed the presentation. Gradually, his efforts were successful and the cake gained special recognition. As a result, it has become a premium product in the market.
Layers and Ingredients
Cake Lapis Sultan has a total of 10 different layers. Each layer has a different combination of flavors. It uses high-quality butter, imported dried fruits and various nuts, including pistachios. In addition, chocolate and specially selected ingredients are also added to it.

All these ingredients enrich the taste of the cake. As a result, the cake has become much more attractive than a normal cake.
Preparation Process
The process of making this cake is very time-consuming and complicated. Each layer has to be baked separately, and it is important to maintain a specific temperature. It takes more than eight hours to prepare a tray.

If there is a slight mistake during preparation, the structure of the cake can be ruined. So the baker has to work very carefully. The final weight of the finished cake is more than five kilograms.
Small Portion Opportunity
To ensure that all buyers can taste the cake, small portions are also being sold. Half a tray is priced at 910 ringgit. In addition, the price of a loaf-sized cake is 310 ringgit, and half a loaf is available for 160 ringgit.

Smaller bite-sized portions are being sold for just 9.50 ringgit. This allows ordinary customers to taste the cake. This initiative has further increased the interest of customers.
Limited Production
The production of this luxurious cake has also been limited. It is said that a total of about 200 trays are being made. As a result, the cake remains exclusive or special. The manufacturer said that many regular customers understand the quality and value of the cake.
Although many are surprised to hear the price, there has been no lack of interest. As a result, the Lapis Sultan cake has now become a hot item during festivals.
