Water Spout Surprises Road Users
A burst pipe near a road in Bandar Baru Sungai Buaya, Hulu Selangor, Malaysia, caused a dramatic scene on Thursday afternoon (May 15), sending muddy water gushing high into the sky.
The powerful spray was not from a natural geyser, as some initially thought. According to The Star, it is believed that the water came from a high-pressure pipe that burst near a construction site.
Riders Pause at the Roadside, Exact Cause Still Unknown
In the viral clip, a few motorcyclists can be seen stopping to avoid the spray, while other vehicles, like cars and lorries, continued using the road.
The muddy water appeared to shoot up just a few metres from the roadside.
Additionally, the exact cause of the pipe burst is still unknown.
11 Areas Affected, Repairs Completed
It is reported that 11 areas were affected by this. Air Selangor confirmed the incident around 1 pm and announced that repair works were completed by 6 pm the same day.
Full water supply was expected to return by 1.30 am on Friday (May 16), Majoriti reported.
Air Selangor stated that water supply would return gradually, with recovery times differing based on how far each location is from the main supply source.
They also advised residents to let their taps run until the water is clear before using it for drinking or household use.
