A strange scene happened in Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil, when a parked car slowly rolled across a quiet street and plunged into a canal.
The driver had stopped the vehicle in front of a small pharmacy but forgot to use the handbrake before walking away.
How the unusual accident began
Witnesses said the street looked calm at first. The car was left near the entrance of the pharmacy, and nothing appeared wrong. A few minutes later, the vehicle started moving on its own. It crossed the empty road without hitting any other cars or people.
In a video, some passersby seemingly noticed the slow movement and shouted, but the car continued rolling forward.

The car headed straight for the canal, and everything happened too quickly for anyone to stop it. The video shows the vehicle sliding down a short slope before dropping into the water.
People nearby rushed to look but could only watch as the car disappeared into the canal.

Soon after the fall, workers from the area contacted local helpers to pull the car out. The water was not deep, but the car was stuck under the surface, making it difficult to reach.
A small team used ropes and a tow truck to lift the vehicle back onto the street. Several onlookers stood along the canal wall to see the unusual rescue.

When the car was finally taken out, water was pouring from the doors. The seats, dashboard, and floor were soaked.
People watching said it looked almost like a scene from a movie because everything happened silently and without any crash sound. Some store owners nearby said they had never seen a parked car move like that before.
Driver returns to unexpected scene
The driver came back to the pharmacy area after a short visit and was shocked to find a crowd near the canal. After realizing what happened, the driver explained that the car must have rolled because the handbrake was not applied properly.
No injuries were reported, and the street remained open after the rescue crew cleared the area.
Moment becomes viral online
Short clips of the event spread quickly on social media, with many viewers surprised at how slowly but surely the car traveled into the canal.
People who watched the videos said it was one of the strangest parking accidents they had ever seen because the vehicle seemed to move with a mind of its own.
