Brands for Good is a non-profit organisation based in Singapore. Founded in 2017, the organisation rewards small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Asia that embody the principles of social responsibility in their business operations. Brands for Good also aims to inspire more businesses to “do good” by recognising and rewarding those that embodies social responsibility as an integral part of their operations. It seeks to transform businesses into leaders of positive change and promote “activist entrepreneurship.”
As defined by Brands for Good, activist entrepreneurship refers to the approach taken by business owners and entrepreneurs who actively engage in social, environmental, or political causes while running their businesses. It combines traditional entrepreneurship with a focus on activism to create a more conscious, responsible, and values-based approach to business. These activist entrepreneurs use their businesses as platforms to support causes they care about while ensuring ethical practices, employee welfare, community engagement, and transparency.
Since its inception, Brands for Good has helped over 250 companies undergo internal transformations for social Good.
Call for Brands for Good 2024-2025 Awards Nomination
Brands for Good’s Annual Awards, which began in 2018, is now accepting nominations for its 2024-202 edition. The nomination period opened on May 5, following the 2022-2023 Brands for Good Awards Ceremony held at the Marina Bay Sands (Hibiscus Room).
The Brands for Good Awards encompass four categories: Business for Good, Capital for Good, Leadership for Good, and Technology for Good. To participate, companies are required to submit their nomination form, ACRA Business Registration Profile, and financial reports from the previous two years. Additionally, nominees must prepare a presentation highlighting their company and its initiatives. A panel of at least three judges will evaluate and score the submitted documents, which will be tabulated and ranked accordingly. Following this process, Brands for Good will conduct interviews with the top three nominees in each category.
Among the top winners from the previous year were Siang Chay Medical, which provides free medical consultation and highly subsidised medication and treatment to the sick, needy, elderly, and the public. NannyPro, a social enterprise that offers trusted infant caregiving services to families and meaningful employment to women from diverse backgrounds, was also recognised. Foreword Coffee, a social enterprise that provides an inclusive work environment for persons with disabilities, and mental health needs and TDCX for its transformative digital CX solutions were also hailed as 2023’s champions.
Brands for Good Challenge
In March 2023, Brands for Good launched the “Brands for Good Pledge Challenge.” The challenge aimed to acquire pledges from more than 1,000 companies committed to upholding the ethos of being a reputable brand. These companies pledge to prioritise what is right and good for the community, people, and the environment in their business conduct. Brands for Goods takes pride in its active community of like-minded business owners, setting a new standard for “Doing Good.” So far, the challenge has received over 250 pledges.
With a firm belief in the potential of companies as economic assets and catalysts for improving human life, the annual awards by Brands for Good persistently encourage businesses to prioritize purpose-driven practices. The awards serve as a platform to recognize and applaud companies that have already embraced social responsibility, aiming to inspire and motivate other businesses to follow suit. By shining a spotlight on these exemplary organisations, Brands for Good aims to foster a culture of corporate social responsibility and inspire positive change.
