Police have arrested a man for allegedly drifting dangerously on a mountain road in Genting Highlands. Police identified the 29-year-old man after a video of him went viral on TikTok. The video shows a luxury BMW 325i drifting left and right on a bend in the road. The incident quickly went viral on social media, and many expressed concern about it.

Later, the accused himself appeared at the traffic office of the Bentong District Police Headquarters. The police then arrested him, and the car used was also seized.
Viral video
Police said that a 14-second video clip went viral on TikTok on March 2. It shows the car drifting at high speed on a bend in the Genting Highlands road. In the video, the car is seen sliding left and right several times. The scene looked like a movie stunt to many.

However, in reality, it was a very risky task. Because other cars were also using the same road at that time.
The Accused Surrenders
After the viral video came to light, the police started an investigation. Later, the accused was identified. On Thursday, 6 March, at around 11 am, he himself went to the traffic office of the Bentong District Police Headquarters.

He also appeared with the car that was seen in the video. The police then arrested him and seized the car. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Initial Investigation
District Police Chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said that the initial investigation showed that the driver was deliberately driving dangerously. As a result, the lives of other road users were put at risk.

However, the initial drug test result on the arrested person came back negative. This means that there was evidence that he had not taken drugs. However, the driving style he was using was extremely dangerous. The police are now investigating the details of the entire incident.
Legal Action
The police said that the incident is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Under this section, a charge of reckless and dangerous driving has been filed. If the charges are proven, punishments such as fines, imprisonment or suspension of driving licenses can be imposed.
Meanwhile, the police have urged all drivers to be vigilant. Extra caution is needed, especially when driving on hilly and winding roads. Because such dangerous stunts not only violate the law but also put the lives of other people at risk.
