Farewell Filled With Gratitude
Students at the University of Bahrain (UOB) came together on 28 September to honour Sheikh Islam, a Bangladeshi worker who had long served the College of Law with dedication and care.

A video of the farewell, shared by @/lawsociety.uob on Instagram, showed Islam becoming visibly emotional as students applauded and thanked him for his contributions. The event, organised by the Law School Society, was described as a celebration of a man who “was not just a worker, but a soul who brought joy to every corner of the College.”

The clip has drawn praise online. Many describe the moment as an example of respect and appreciation for migrant workers who often work quietly behind the scenes.
“A Soul Who Brought Joy”
The video begins with students leading Sheikh Islam forward in a blindfold, which they remove to reveal confetti and balloons.

They present him with a bouquet of flowers as students clapped. They then took him to cut a cake decorated with his face and the words “I love you Islam.”

Islam grows emotional as a student helps wipe his tears. After a speech, they hand him another bouquet of flowers and a sketched portrait of himself.

In their Instagram post, the Law School Society wrote:
“Sheikh Islam, whom I love near and far, left an indelible mark on our hearts. We were once not just students, but a family of our humanity, then science and law brought us together 💙.”

Their message reflected the deep bond shared between Islam and generations of students who had come to know him as a kind and familiar face on campus.
University President Praises Students’ Initiative
University of Bahrain President Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari also recognised the gesture in a LinkedIn post, commending the students for their compassion.

“This was entirely the work of our beloved students. So thank you for your big hearts and pure souls,” he wrote.
Online Reactions
Many praised the gesture, and commenters on the Instagram post agreed on one thing: Sheikh Islam deserved the gesture.
Other viewers commented their experience of working in Bahrain while a few more spoke of unity and the impact one may leave in a place where they dedicated years of their life.
A Gesture That Resonated
The farewell has resonated widely across social media, with users calling it a powerful reminder of the unseen contributions of migrant workers in educational institutions and beyond.
For many, the moment captured the essence of community: gratitude, respect, and human connection transcends titles and backgrounds.
