No one is perfect?

The MP for Tampines got “ratioed” on Twitter after sharing his A-Level Results slip. In case you don’t know what being ratioed means, it describes a situation where the replies or negative quote-retweets outnumber the “likes”. In this case, Baey received more than 130 quote tweets which were, for the most part, unimpressed Although the tweet has since been deleted, we kept some receipts of the QRTs.
What ticked many netizens off was not his results per se, but his wish that he “obtained better results“. One Twitter user took the trouble to “fix” Baey’s post.
Hi OP, I fixed it for you pic.twitter.com/Ash2MX76VV

On Facebook, his post attracted many commentators who thought that the post was a little tone-deaf. One commentator said that the post “smugs of a privileged elite trying to empathise with the masses“.
Benjamin Lee, the author of the famous book series Mr Miyagi, also weighed in by asking the MP “liddat no good meh?”. To which, the MP replied that he was just “aiming for better or perfection“.
Editing the post’s caption
In response to a comment from Samuel Myat San, who said that the most may be perceived by some to be a “humble brag“, Baey clarified that he never meant to say that his results were not good. He said that the results were not perfect, which was “perfectly fine”
As Facebook allows users to view the Edit History of a post, we were able to compare the original caption of Baey’s post, and its subsequent iteration.
In the edited version, Baey added a paragraph about how his grades helped him land a scholarship. In response to a Netizen’s joke about why Baey was not the Minister for Education, Baey quipped that “not all Education Ministers got perfect scores anyway“.
While we’re on the topic of A-Levels, be sure to check out our previous story on how a student who received “B E C C A” for their A-levels is faring now. Unlike the typical story of students who performed poorly academically who eventually succeeded, this story is raw and realistic.
"2 years ago, I got BECCA for my A Levels"
This is not the typical story of a student who did poorly but eventually succeeded.https://t.co/eK69CodrDO pic.twitter.com/k6oI2JhYd3
