A horrifying criminal case is being investigated in the island of Bali in Indonesia, where human body parts were found in a river in a place that is in the eastern side of the island.
The police think that the remains are of Igor Komarov, a 28 year old Ukrainian tourist who went missing in the beginning of February. The case has attracted the attention of the international community as the police attempt to figure out how a vacation trip had been transformed into a violent kidnapping investigation.

The body parts, including a cut off head were discovered near the mouth of the Wos river, not very far away in Tabanan coastal area. It was initially reported by local residents to police who in turn secured the area and issued a forensic examination.
The remains are in bad condition and can hardly be identified but investigators are trying to verify whether they belong to the missing tourist.
Sudden Kidnapping within a Tourist Locality
Komarov disappeared off the radar of the police on February 15 in the resort town of Jimbaran which is a tourist destination. Witnesses state that he was riding on a scooter when he was attacked by a group of men who came out of nowhere.
The kidnappers were said to have come in several cars and executed the kidnapping in a quick and well orchestrated manner.

Komarov was staying at Bali together with his girlfriend, Yea Mishalova, a social media influencer and a large following. Researchers are questioning the possibility of people posting information on the internet that assisted kidnappers in tracing the whereabouts of the couple.
Nevertheless, police claim that there is no definite evidence that social media activity is related to the crime.
Demand Threat and Terrifying Video
Totally, it is assumed by investigators that the kidnapping was somehow linked with a huge ransom. According to media reports, the father of Komarov, Oleksandr Petrovsky is a successful businessman in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

Due to his financial position, police assume that the rapists might have been attempting to make the family pay millions of dollars.
There was a video that showed a man suspected to be Komarov requesting his parents to pay a ransom of ten million dollars. In the video, the injured man was seen to be frail and scared since he alleged he was beaten and severely injured by his captors.

The video has not been proved to be authentic by the police who claim that it is under review as part of the investigation.
The investigation is in progress since the police are awaiting final DNA tests to identify the remains and establish precisely what went on during the violent kidnapping.
