A monkey was recently spotted on a HDB railing in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, causing a stir among residents in the area. The monkey, believed to be a macaque, was seen sitting calmly on the railing, looking around and occasionally grooming itself. I’ve heard of monkey bars, but this is taking it to a whole new level!
@bombomlow This fella damn rude. Sit outside my house and scratch his leg. Talk to him dont want to reply. Jialat #fyp #monkey
A resident (@Bombomlow) spotted the monkey took videos of the unusual sight and shared them on Tiktok. Experts say that it is not uncommon for monkeys to venture into residential areas in search of food, especially in urban areas where their natural habitat has been disrupted. While they are generally not aggressive towards humans, they can be territorial and may become aggressive if they feel threatened.
As the monkey continued to scratch its legs, it appeared to be at ease and unaffected by any discomfort. In a video recording of the incident, Bombomlow was addressing the monkey and expressing concern for its welfare by inquiring about its legs. However, the monkey did not respond to Bombomlow’s queries.
In the accompanying captions, Bombomlow commented that the monkey was being impolite, as it was sitting outside and scratching its leg without acknowledging him when he attempted to communicate with it.
While the sight of a monkey in a residential area may be exciting and unexpected, it is important to remember that these animals are wild and can be unpredictable. By keeping a safe distance and not feeding them, we can help to ensure the safety of both ourselves and the animals that share our urban environment.

That close beware it can spark
Several other users on social media expressed concern that the monkey could potentially become aggressive and attack Bombomlow if he got too close.
Looks like the monkey business is getting out of hand in Singapore! The authorities are warning residents not to feed the monkey and to keep a safe distance. Authorities have also urged residents to report any sightings of the monkey to the authorities, so that they can monitor its movements and take appropriate action if necessary.
In recent years, there have been several incidents of monkeys causing trouble in residential areas in Singapore. In some cases, they have entered homes and stolen food, while in others they have attacked people who got too close.
To prevent such incidents from happening, the authorities have stepped up efforts to manage the monkey population in Singapore. This includes trapping and relocating monkeys that pose a risk to public safety, as well as educating the public on how to coexist with these animals in a safe and responsible manner.
Bye for now, hope your day is bananas!
