Islamabad is making final arrangements to host talks between the United States and Iran, after a fragile two-week ceasefire opened a window for diplomacy.

Footage filmed on Thursday shows police carrying out security checks and inspections, while municipal workers repainted road markings and cleaned streets ahead of the expected meeting.

The talks come after Iran and the US agreed a ceasefire on Tuesday night, with both sides claiming a ‘victory’.

Vice President JD Vance is expected to lead the US delegation, alongside special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner. Iran’s team will be headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran did not include Lebanon, as its forces claimed to have carried out 100 strikes against the group in ten minutes on Wednesday.

According to the United Nations, more than one million people, around 20 percent of Lebanon’s population, have been displaced since fighting reignited on March 2.

Lebanese casualties have surpassed 1,400, including both civilians and militants, as the conflict intensifies across multiple fronts.
