Iran has released dramatic footage claiming its air defense systems successfully tracked and hit a U.S. F-35 stealth jet over central Iran, calling it a major breakthrough against one of the world’s most advanced aircraft.
According to Iranian military statements, the jet was locked, engaged, and severely damaged mid-air. The claim is being framed as a powerful signal that even fifth-generation stealth technology is no longer untouchable in modern warfare.
However, available reports only confirm that a U.S. F-35 was damaged and forced to make an emergency landing during a combat mission, with the pilot safe and the incident under investigation. 
There is still no independent confirmation that Iran successfully shot down or critically disabled the aircraft, and similar claims in the past have later been disputed or proven inaccurate.
