Maid Burned by Boiling Soup as Gas Stove Explodes; Investigations Ongoing

A Sudden Eruption in the Kitchen

On December 16, 2024, a routine cooking session turned dangerous when the burner of an Aerogaz table-top gas stove exploded mid-use. The blast caused boiling soup to spill onto the maid’s arm, resulting in a painful burn injury.

The stove, purchased in August 2024 via Lazada, had been serviced by an Aerogaz technician just days prior to the explosion.

While the exact cause of the malfunction remains unclear, the incident has sparked concerns over the safety and maintenance of gas appliances.

Response from Aerogaz

According to STOMP, following the incident, an independent contractor from Union Gas, called in to assess the situation and suggested that the explosion may have been triggered by a gas leak caused by a possible error during the servicing.

This has led to doubts about the quality of the repair work performed by the Aerogaz technician.

In response, Aerogaz stated that it is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

While no fault has been admitted, the company expressed deep concern over the maid’s injury and assured that they are reviewing all factors, including the role of Union Gas in the gas supply installation and any adjustments made during the process.

Aerogaz emphasized that investigations are ongoing, and no conclusions have been reached at this time.
